Stone and Paper's faculty is comprised of many area artists who enjoy
sharing their knowledge of concept and technique with others. From
Clay, Paper, Glass, 2D, to 3D, drawing, painting, our talented group of
instructors offers a very wide range of knowledge in the arts.
FACULTY
Mary-Elaine
Bernard, Member/Manager,
Stone and Paper Art Center, LLC, holds a BA in Art from the College of New
Rochelle, NY. She has certified to teach in NY, CT and LA. She completed
advanced studio work in glaze calculation, potter’s wheel techniques, Southwest
Native American pottery, handmade Eastern and Western style papers, bookarts,
printmaking, jewelry and American raku. Both her ceramic and handmade paper
sculpture have been exhibited nationally and internationally. She has taught
studio pottery courses and led hand papermaking workshops for many years.
She continues to teach Visual Arts in the Talented Arts Program in Western
St. Tammany Parish.
Sam McCarty,
clay artist and teacher from Mandeville, LA, received a BA in Visual Arts
from Loyola University, New Orleans and a Masters in Ceramics from the
University of Georgia. For many years Sam has specialized in clay sculpture.
His work has been widely exhibited. He has taught ceramics at SLU in Hammond
and continues to teach Talented Visual Arts for the St. Tammany Parish
Public Schools. He has taught at Stone and Paper since June 2000.
Shannon Conner
holds a BFA in Ceramics from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge.
She is an accomplished clay artist focusing on wheel-thrown functional
ware. She has exhibited and sells her work at local and regional festivals.
She has taught at Stone and Paper since June 2000.
Louis Hutson,
a Mandeville resident, received his BA in Art from LSU. Photography is
his medium of choice. He is cuurently specializing in Digital Photography.
He joined the faculty at Stone and Paper in 2000.
Ralph Townsend
holds a BA in Graphic Design and Studio Art as well as an MFA from Louisiana
Tech in Ruston, LA. He is currently teaching Visual Arts for the Talented
Arts Program in St. Tammany Parish.He
has taught at Stone and Paper since June 2000.
Barbara Seale
holds both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University
of Alabama, Tuscaloosa. She has taught both drawing and painting on the
college level. Barbara joined Stone and Paper in 2003.
Pat Walker-Fields,
an award winning Southern oil painter is joining us at Stone and Paper
Art Center. She exhibits her work in Jackson, MS, Hot Springs, AR., and
Savannah, GA. Pat is camping put here while she awaits rebuilding on Mississippi
coast.
Jessica Ducote holds a BFA in sculpture and
painting from William Carey College in Gulfport, MS. She exhibits her
work at local galleries. Jessica joined Stone and Paper in 2005.
Susan Copping holds a Bachelor's degree from the University
of New Orleans. Her watercolor paintings are based on nature and nautral
surroundings. She has exhibited her paintings in local, regional, and
international exhibitions. Susan is our newest instructor. We welcome
her and appreciate her expertise and dedication to teaching.
